Food Myths and Facts

Now days! Everyone is expert! When it comes to nutrition!! We hear a lot of funny stuff! And the bad thing that people believe it! Below i listed some of the common myths that people keep on saying! And Believing! :/

  • Myth: Carbohydrates cause weight gain.

Fact: it does not cause weight GAIN. Only if it's contributed to excess calorie intake. A BALANCED DIET WOULD FIX THE problem

  • Myth: brown sugar is healthier than regular table sugar.

Fact:
Sugar is sugar! Brown sugar just has a little molasses added to change the color and it doesn't add a significant amount of nutrients.

  • Myth: Skipping meals can help lose weight!

Fact: NO, NO, AND NO. If you skip a meal, your body will think that you are in starvation mode and therefore slow down the metabolism to compensate and this will lead for over eating in the next meal which will lead to WEIGHT GAIN.

  • Myth: Certain foods, like grapefruit or celery can burn fat and make you lose weight.

Fact: NO FOOD CAN BURN FAT. These kinds of food are low in calories and they might contain caffeine that might speed up the metabolism.

  • Myth: Eating for 2 is necessary during pregnancy.

Fact: 200 kcal are needed only! A baked potato will be enough to be added to a pregnant woman HEALTHY diet.

  • Myth: Avoid seafood to lower blood cholesterol.

Fact: dietary cholesterol found in seafood and other meats has little effect on blood cholesterol in most people. Saturated fats and Trans fatty acids are the most important factors that raise blood cholesterol. So what affects the blood cholesterol most is the packaged snack foods and deep-fried foods.
