carbs cause weight gain ?! NOOOOO

Food Myths and Facts

Now days! Everyone is expert! When it comes to nutrition!! We hear a lot of funny stuff! And the bad thing that people believe it! Below i listed some of the common myths that people keep on saying! And Believing! :/

  • Myth: Carbohydrates cause weight gain.

Fact: it does not cause weight GAIN. Only if it's contributed to excess calorie intake. A BALANCED DIET WOULD FIX THE problem

  • Myth: brown sugar is healthier than regular table sugar.

Fact:
Sugar is sugar! Brown sugar just has a little molasses added to change the color and it doesn't add a significant amount of nutrients.

  • Myth: Skipping meals can help lose weight!

Fact: NO, NO, AND NO. If you skip a meal, your body will think that you are in starvation mode and therefore slow down the metabolism to compensate and this will lead for over eating in the next meal which will lead to WEIGHT GAIN.

  • Myth: Certain foods, like grapefruit or celery can burn fat and make you lose weight.

Fact: NO FOOD CAN BURN FAT. These kinds of food are low in calories and they might contain caffeine that might speed up the metabolism.

  • Myth: Eating for 2 is necessary during pregnancy.

Fact: 200 kcal are needed only! A baked potato will be enough to be added to a pregnant woman HEALTHY diet.

  • Myth: Avoid seafood to lower blood cholesterol.

Fact: dietary cholesterol found in seafood and other meats has little effect on blood cholesterol in most people. Saturated fats and Trans fatty acids are the most important factors that raise blood cholesterol. So what affects the blood cholesterol most is the packaged snack foods and deep-fried foods.

I wanted one thing only! But I ended up buying the whole super market!

Most of the people suffer from this! The only wanted to buy few things they end up with a big shopping bag! Here are some few tips to help you to avoid this from happing:
-Never shop hungry
-Always shop by the sides of the super market because on the sides we find the veggies, breads and dairy products. Once you go deep you will find the bad and unnecessary stuff!
-Always write down a list with what do you need to buy.
-Learn about food claims because not everything you read on the product is true!

And good luck ;)

Be positive!

For the past few days I was complaining about me being sick for my sisters " am sick, I think I have fever, bala3mee etwe3rnee -my throat hurts-, my nose hurts I want a new nose!" and I just kept saying this! Until today I realized that won't help! Complaining won't help! I need to be positive get out of bed and live a normal life! And it really worked! Convincing your body that you're ok will make you feel better!

The same thing goes for people who are on a diet I always hear people saying! Am fat I can't do it! Or I will start next Saturday! If you want to lose weight you can do it! And if you don’t want to! You just keep complaining.

Starting a healthy lifestyle do not need a fixed time to start it if you want to start do it now! There is nothing hard just BE POSTIVE and always remember eating right means a brighter life.

Thanks B!

i got this amazing gift from my big sister B :)
thank you for having faith in me! though some times the food that I cook end up tasting very bad! But you still eat it without complaining! I luv it when you say I'd rather eat something you cook than buying from a restaurant! It makes my day :D I luv you so much!!
PS: she painted it! isnt it amazing!! :D

Oh, i always skip breakfast hmmm sometimes dinner or even lunch! and am still FAT!

Skipping meals helps in losing weight is a BIG myth.In fact it helps in gaining weight and creates abdominal fat "karsha"Most of you are wondering why?! It does not make sense.Well when you skip meals your whole system will switch into the survival mode, as your body is in a survival mode when you skip meals, it would pack away fat. And this fat which your body stores will be saved away for later and I said earlier it's saved as abdominal fat "karsha"So if you are trying to lose weight don’t use this method because it's wrong and it contributes to lots of bad things for your body.

keep hot food hot and cold food cold!

simple and easy! any kind of food left out for more than 2 hours such as meat, poultry, eggs, and casseroles it should be discarded! why? because keeping it at room temperature means you kept the food in the danger zone and the danger zone is the zone that helps bacteria to grow! Which we really don’t want.
keep hot food hot and cold food cold!

Atchoooo ! bless me ;pP

You are not sick, you're thirsty!

Yes you are thirsty! And yes WATER! Can relieve a stunning range of medical conditions.
As everyone knows by nutrition we can control most of the actions that happens in are body and water plays an important role in this since are body is composed of 60 % of water.
I will make it simple if you consume adequate amount of water it will:
- prevents heart disease and stroke.
- prevent and treat Hypertension. (Thagh6 el dam)
-prevent and treat Depression.
-prevent and treat Sleep disorders
-prevent and treat Lack of energy
-prevent and treat Attention Deficit
-prevent Osteoporosis (hashashat el 3tham)
And Much more!

Drink water in adequate amounts, never stay thirsty, and never replace water with any other liquid.
Oxygenated water: is water that is infused with oxygen. the best example for oxygenated water in Kuwait is OGO water in fact it’s the only one in Kuwait and its available in most of the CO-Ops and sultan center.

Start them young

Most mothers thinks that’s it is very hard to convince their kids to eat healthy, well its wrong! Because when a child is born, he/she comes with a brain ready and eager to learn. The brain is very much like a new computer. It has great potential for development, depending on what we put into it. Early experiences greatly influence the way a person develops, so if children can be taught to make healthier choices while they are still in grade school, they will likely continue those habits as they get older.
Teaching children to be healthy is very hard and they won't be interested unless they find something that they like so always try to make fun! And trust me with food you can do a lot! It just need a little bit of creativity.

The picture was in an activity for nutri-viva that took a place in the GTC girl's camp it was fun and at the same time educational they learned about the main food groups and the servings.
